Presenting the Findings

Home Student Page Grading Rubrics Final Project

Learning Challenge:

Four foreign students, each from a different country, enroll in your school. Become an expert on each of the four cultures.  Develop a “welcoming” plan.  The purpose of this plan is to not only make the new students feel welcome, but also to help them be understood, accepted, and appreciated in your school and your local community. Your information will be presented to the school and local community at the culture fair.

The following links will help you complete your activities.  Click on Individual Activities to see what you need to do on your own.  Click on Team Activities to see what you need to do with your team.

Now that you have completed all of your tasks it is time to share your information with the group.  Read the pointers below to help you prepare your final presentation.  Print off the Present the Findings sheet to help you organize your information for your presentation.

Oral Presentation Pointers:

To have a good presentation, your audience must understand you.  Here are some tips to help you be a good presenter.

1.

Check the Final Presentation Rubric to see what you will be graded on.

2.

Make good decisions about the facts you want to present.

3.

Organize your facts well. You can have note cards or a paper to help you remember what to say. Do not simply read your note cards or paper.

4.

Practice together before you present so each team member knows what to say and when to say it.

5.

Speak clearly and loudly. Speak slowly enough that everyone can understand you.

6.

Make eye contact during your presentation.

Visual Presentation Pointers:

Interesting presentations have visual aids that help the audience understand the information being presented.  When you make a poster or chart consider these tips.

1.

Pick the most important information to present on your poster or chart.

2.

Check the Poster Rubric to see how your poster will be graded.

3.

Make sure all words are spelled correctly.

4.

The visual should be organized and easy to read.

5.

Sentences should have capitals and periods.

6.

Do not put too many items on your visual.

7.

Make sure the illustrations are large enough to be seen from the back of the room.

8.

Make sure the words are written in a dark color that is easy to see.

This is your final project. You will be graded on this final presentation. You will be sharing this information with your school, community, and family at our Culture Fair.
